March Favorites!!

Below are a few of the things that really stood out to me this month and that I highly recommend :)

Hello Kitty Eau de-Parfum 1.7 oz. $55 Click here!
I absolutely adore almost anything Hello Kitty, I wouldn't consider myself a crazed fanatic, I just think her little face is so cute haha  This perfume packaging is so adorable and the scent is very floral like with vanilla. This also comes in a roller ball, which is great to throw in your purse or for traveling! The bottle will for sure be a collectors item :)

Origins VitaZing SPF 15 Energy Boosting Moisturizer 17 oz. $35 Click here!
I just purchased this this month and I am totally loving it. The first time I used it I saw an immediate radiance to my face! Its comes out of the tube white, however when rubbing together on my hands I saw it change to a more fleshy tone color, which means it gives a "slight" tint to your skin. I have a medium skin tone and this blends flawlessly :) If you wear light coverage foundation now (I do not), you may just be able to skip foundation all together as this evened out my entire skin tone. Its not oily or heavy and definitely makes your skin look radiant (perhaps from booting its energy haha) A little bit goes a long way with this one so the price in reference to the amount of use you get out of the tube is perfect. Take my word and try this!

MAC MSF Soft & Gentle $28 Click here!
I have been looking for the perfect highlight for months! When I came across this one, I was so pleased with the initial swatch I did that I felt compelled to give it a try. Needless to say I love this stuff! Its a high frost metallic finish which is perfect for highlighting above the cheekbones, down the nose as well as your cupids bow if you wish. I use this with my Sigma E40 brush which is small yes, but I feel like this gives me the ultimate control of where I am placing the product so I don't end up with a tin man looking face haha

Reebok RunTone Action On Sale for $76! Click here!
Can you believe the last time I owned a pair of sneakers that weren't Coach Fashion-like ones was more than 6 years ago! I know I can't either lol I've never been much of a sneaker girl, I prefer flip flops, flats, wedges etc. My boyfriend and I are going to be doing quite a decent amount of traveling this summer so he saw it fit that I actually have something to walk around comfortably in haha He got me these babies for Christmas, and boy were they an awesome gift! Number one they're pink, they also are super stylish and don't make your feet look all chunky and wide, they're breathable with some mesh parts that allow your little toes to catch a gust of wind on occasion hahaha AND they work your bottom and legs out the more you walk in them! SCORE on all ends with this sneaker :) I definitely recommend these to everyone without a doubt!

Kohl's Juniors S.O. Long and Lean Ribbed Tank On sale for $5.99! Click here!
I am always buying tank tops, like ALWAYS! I find that during any season, a tank top can be layered or thrown under a cardigan for a perfect polished effortless look. I like my non-ribbed ones from Target, but unfortunately they're only available for a month or so then they are no where to be found until the next year! I cam across these ribbed tanks at Kohl's and let me tell you what I love about them: 1. They are good quality 2. They come in a variety of colors 3. They have a nice colorful piping on the inside :) and 4. They are totally the kind of tank that WON'T stretch out on you during the day, I HATE THAT!! The case of the saggy tank top by noon is not a good look lol

Happy Shopping! xox

My Favorite Spring Trends!

Below I am going to mention briefly a few of the trends I am looking forward to wearing this spring. I cannot wait for the weather to warm up already so I can whip these babies out!

Blazers: I am so thrilled that I can actually maybe wear just a blazer and no heavy coat in a few weeks. (crossing my fingers!) I have a few blazers, but am looking forward to really spicing things up with a bold colored one this spring. I am loving corals this spring and I just know it is going to be a huge color fashion wise this year. Keeping the rest of your outfit muted and earth toned and then throwing a jewel toned jacket over it would just look fabulous and effortless in my eyes. This is what I love about blazers, they are effortless, just throw one on and out the door you go, yet you look so polished :)

Colorful Scarves: I seriously consider myself the scarf lady. I have so many scarves its insane! lol This Spring I am anxiously awaiting not having to wear a coat that will hide these bright colors. A bright colored scarf can, just like a bright colored piece of jewelry, add such delight to your outfit. I don't follow the "rule" of color matching either, I love color so much how could I limit myself?! haha There are so many ways to wear scarves as well, the possibilities are limitless. I am even really loving the neck tie scarves (one of them is above)! Reminds me of something very Jackie O' ! (as you all know I live for this woman!)

Wedges: If any of you were to come raid my shoe closet today you would find that I have more wedges than ANY other kind of shoe. The comfort and chicness are just undeniable in the fashion world. It's like getting the best of both worlds, beauty and you aren't killing your pretty little feet, so why not?!  Wedges remind me of Spring and Summer undeniably. I love that they are so versatile with almost any ensemble. There are super fancy wedges, and on the other side of the spectrum, very casual ones. If you don't have a good pair of wedges in black and brown (colors that will take you through any season) definitely pick up some for this spring!

A few other Spring trends that I am excited about would be :

1. Flare/Wide Leg Jeans : I know what you're thinking, Flare Alysea?!?! but you watch, they are making a comeback and paired the right way you don't have to look like a disco queen haha ;)
2. Fun Belts: Printed belts, studs etc
3. Hats: Fedoras, Sunhats, you name it--be BOLD!

What are your favorite Trends for this Spring??

Homemade Face Scrub That Will Rock Your World!

Anything homemade pretty much catches my eye from the get. I love the idea of knowing EXACTLY what is going into everything, and when I am the "cook", I am able to have full confidence that I know just that. This goes for my facial scrubs as well :) I currently use an all natural citrus face scrub from Burt's Bees in my shower and I absolutely love it. I will do a more thorough review for you guys later on that miracle in a jar. For now, however, I would like to share with you my other face remedy that I tend to use about once a week, depending on how much I feel my skin needs this.

This scrub, for me, is used to rid my face of any dead skin that may be lingering and causing my skin to look "dull". Lemon Sugar Scrubs are well known by most, and almost everyone who has used them can attest to how amazing their skin feels/looks after consistent use. The acidity in the lemon juice can gently exfoliate away any age spots, and or discoloration in the skin after a few uses. It's healthy for the skin, and therefore makes me a happy camper as well. You can make this quickie scrub with merely two ingredients, however, I add a third most of the time just because I love the value that Olive Oil brings to your skin naturally!

2 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice (freshly squeezed or in those little plastic lemons lol I believe called Real Lemon)
2 Tablespoons of white Sugar (if available I like to get the finely granulated sugar, although not necessary!)
A drab of Olive Oil, to doctor up the texture and make it more of a "scrub", if this texture doesn't already exist.

*Keep in mind these measurements are totally something I just threw together in approximation, 99% of the time I just eyeball it and add whatever I think needs to be added according to how well the mixture is mixing together.

The key to this is to scrub in circular motions (with your hands or with a cosmetic cotton pad) but not to be too abrasive. The first time I used a facial scrub, I swore that I was getting even more of a deep clean by scrubbing like there was no tomorrow, and only ended up with very red irritated skin in the end. Trust in the natural cleansing power of the sugar and lemon to do all of that stuff and be gentle on your little faces!

When you are satisfied, rinse your face thoroughly, moisturize and you're done!

Cute Stuff to Pamper Your Pupp-eroni!

Ever since I was introduced to my little Princess (I have done a previous blog post about her if you all want to see pics etc) , I knew I would be spoiling her rotten! It's hard not to, they are so cute and small as puppies and just so cuddly :) Once in a while I will buy her some special things to add to her collection. Dog things, unfortunately, are just as expensive as some of the things I buy for myself! Oh well, the price you pay to make your loved ones look sassy right?! haha

Below I am going to share with you some of the things I found browsing a website that I love looking at dog things on. I have not necessarily bought any of these things...yet haha I just thought they were so cute, and wanted to share these with you!

Harness

How cute! A Leopard Harness with Rhinestones and a bow!

This is one of my favorites, a pink harness with angel wings. Your pup looks like a little angel just struttin' their stuff haha
Doggie Diaper
I never "fixed" my dog, so she needs to wear a diaper twice a year lol It's embarrassing enough for her so I figure why not at least make it a SUPER cute diaper! These are absolutely adorable, so fashionable :)
My FAVORITE Dog Conditioner!

This is the ONLY conditioner I have ever used on my Princess since she was born, that's 8 years! It smells amazing without being too much, and leaves her coat so smooth and fluffy without leaving a heavy residue like many other conditioners do. Its truly worth EVERY penny. A little goes a long way, and she definitely deserves the best :)

Have fun shopping for your pooch, and spoil them, they deserve it! xox

What Can YOU Do During This Tragedy?

"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." -M.G.

It is no surprise that some pretty bad natural disasters have struck our planet in the past few years. We have New Orleans, Indonesia, Haiti & most recently Japan, just to name a few. Although I would love to go into depth about the fact that STILL assistance is needed for repairing the damages that these disasters have caused in many of the previously listed areas, that would make this blog be about 7 pages long lol Viewing the devastating news footage of the Tsunami/Earthquake happenings in Japan just a few nights ago, my little heart breaks. Imagine tucking in your loved ones in at night or kissing your spouse off to work only to realize the next morning that that would be the last time you saw them. Although we can't exactly control the Earths movements and shifts, we can do things to be more aware. Spreading knowledge about whats going on is only the beginning, but it is certainly a start.

Some photos of the heartache in Japan:

The source of these and more information/photos can be found here.

As the fortunate ones in this situation, I think it is our job to assist where we can. There are MANY ways to assist, not necessarily just monetarily. I am going to give you the opportunity to do some more research on this yourselves and quit rambling on, because with things that touch my heart like this, I could do so FOREVER!

For a list of aid organizations where you can make a difference (I know you guys have it in you!) click here .

I hope we can all start taking better care of one another in our times of need. I must cry on average 3 times a day just watching the news footage of what these innocent people have been thrown into. Whatever you can do to help, is more than not helping at all.

Is Your Sunscreen Really Protecting You?

As the warmer weather is approaching, and I say this merely because I'm hoping it will be soon enough! haha--everyone will be vacationing, Spring Break for colleges etc. While packing for vacation, I'm going to go ahead and safely assume that you all pack an SPF/Sunscreen. It's almost unheard of to just bake out on the beach with nothing but baby oil and iodine on, and yes I've actually seen people do this and I feel like handing them a tombstone while I'm at it, seriously are you asking for skin cancer people?! Ugh, anywho--I'm not going to fib you guys, I certainly am one of those people who uses an SPF 8 tanning oil while laying out, I like a nice golden tan, what can I say? As I am getting older, and more aware of the health risks that something so beautiful like the sun can cause, I am becoming more and more uneasy about the things my skin may be going through that may just not be visible now, but could most definitely turn into something medically dangerous later.

During some research I did recently, I came across an astonishing amount of the same outcomes of various experiments. Now, normally I wouldn't believe things like this because sometimes they are just independent studies and they have no real consistent evidence, however this is something that I scarily found nothing but consistency in, and I thought it my absolute job to share this info with you all!

In an article dated just May of last year, I learned that :
"Almost half of the 500 most popular sunscreen products may actually increase the speed at which malignant cells develop and spread skin cancer because they contain vitamin A or its derivatives, according to an evaluation of those products released today." Source : here
Reading this really really scared me, had what I've been using all along to "protect" myself from skin cancer and harmful rays, actually been contributing to it? It is one thing to prevent sunburn, and that is what these sunscreens will do, but I am definitely more concerned with possibly contracting Melanoma or something even worse from this kind of thing. I continued on to learn that Vitamin A, found in nearly every sunscreen and marketed as it providing "anti aging effects",  has photo-carcinogenic qualities. This pretty much means that when the skin is exposed to direct sunlight, this can increase the possibility of developing cancerous tumors on the skin!

Needless to say, I will only be purchasing organic sunscreens this year for my summer vacations. There's is a website where you can see a list of some safe sunscreens and whatnot. You guys can check that out here.

Hope you can all take this matter seriously, and be preventative about your health! Happy Vacationing! xox

My Duckies!

For those of you who don't know, I am a full time student as well as a Nanny :) This is such a rewarding position, any job working with children really is. I was hesitant to share stories and photos with you guys because I ultimately want to protect my precious little duckies identities, however I found a clever way to share photos with you and still do the aforementioned :) I will do this from time to time accompanied by a story about what the photo is depicting! xox

My Princess Duckie is a Ballerina! I always wanted to be a ballerina when I was a child, but did gymnastics and jazz instead :) She is so incredibly talented with ballet, and she's only 7! She has been doing ballet for 2 years and let me tell you her skill and flexibility amaze me every week. I love taking her to her classes and watching her through the little viewing window. She moves so fluid with the music, she is definitely armed with extreme talent in the dance category. It is also such a privilege to be able to dress her up in her little pink tutu's and french braid her hair, shes so picky with her outfits, I love it!

*UPDATE: Princess Duckie was accepted into a Classical Ballet Academy! This was something that she had to try out for, and she made it, although I always had the faith in her that she would :) I'm so proud of her determination, skill and self discipline, she inspires me everyday! xox

Coral/Turquoise Explosion in Your Accessories

Nothing screams Spring more to me than a good coral or turquoise accessory. I dont know what it is about these colors, but they remind me of great weather and spring flowers lol :) They look amazing apart, and look even better put together! Below I have thrown together some rings, earrings and necklaces in these colors to give you an idea of something I would totally wear with almost any ensemble during the spring, and even the summer for that matter!

These colors are so vibrant and colorful, I just love em' so so much haha The two tribal looking hoop earrings above in both coral and turquoise are from House of Harlow 1960--lets not get me started on that topic. I am obsessed with any and everything HOH, these earrings being just one of them lol You guys should totally check out Nicole Richie's boho chic retro line of accessories that even include some totally rad (yes I said rad) shoes! Some of her shoes are offered on the Victoria Secret website as well.

For more info on the HOH collection click here !

Window Shopping :)

Below are just a few dresses I came across while perusing some websites online. Some of these dresses are way out of my price range, however, a girl can dream :) I love these dresses for all different reasons, and thought it would be pretty awesome to share some of these with you!

First and foremost, the black and cream Alexander McQueen lace-covered organza dress is simply exquisite, that's the only way I can describe it. I love the shape of it, the pattern, the texture, there really isn't a thing about this dress that I don't like haha ($9,615) Second, this stunning Karen Millen drape dress. I love its cute mini dress shape, with pleating toward the neck-line, which is also a high neck (my favorite on dresses!). It's simple yet very modern day Jackie O', which you all know I adore, and who doesn't want to look spicy in a red dress?! ($250) Third we have a Giambattista Valli draped jersey dress. I love dresses that are fitted to the body with ruching and drapery in the texture and design of the piece. A nude color can be very flattering as well leaving you many options to add a pop of color in accessories or just throw it with a black pump for an extra simple ensemble. Overall, love love love this dress :) ($1,950) Lastly, but certainly not least we have this gorgeous coral/orange gathered kaftan Matthew Williamson dress. There is nothing that reminds me of spring more than the color coral/tangerine! Again you are probably seeing a trend in my style, draping etc. I love the flowy fit of this and the simple tie around the waist that creates a defined line around the waist. The deep plunge in the neck-line creates a hint of sexiness but still keeps it classy, and that's never bad! :) ($450)

I've Officially Added Another Salad to my FAVORITE Salad List! :)

Thai Chopped Chicken Salad

At 390 Calories and packed with savory flavor (thinking about it makes my mouth water and it's only 10am!) this salad is a no brainer for those who love massive flavor in their salads as opposed to the feeling of crunching on watery tasteless lettuce leaves haha When I first tried this, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I liked everything in this salad. I'm notorious for picking out things in my food lol With this I did none of that sort. From the soy beans to the red peppers, I devoured everything because it was just so delicious. If you are in a Panera Bread any time soon, please do your taste-buds a favor and try this baby out!

*Note: this salad packs a little bit of heat too, nothing tabasco sauce like but certainly leaves you tasting a little spice. I love spicy things so this wasn't a problem, however, if this is for you, you can perhaps ask what contributes to the spice and have that taken out :)

Ingredients:

Fresh Cilantro, Crispy Wonton Strips, Chopped Romaine Lettuce, Citrus & Pepper Chicken, Fire Roasted Edamame Blend, Low Fat Thai Chili Vinaigrette, Thai Cashew Pieces and Thai Style Peanut Sauce.

Ways to Use MAC Fix + & Love it !

Who wants to throw together a fabulous look and have it fade away as the hours go by?? Certainly not me, that's for sure. A while ago I discovered something I had been overlooking for years, MAC Fix +! This stuff is genius in a bottle. The older bottles, which some of you just may still be weaning off of, look more like a travel non aerosol hairspray bottle, no worries the same exact thing is inside there. I personally love that this is the newer packaging though, it is MUCH more user friendly as you can see how much product you actually have left, AND it has the lock on the top so no messy leaks when traveling etc. Ok, so at this point you're wondering what can I use this stuff for?! MAC Fix + has many uses, from refreshing your skin, setting your makeup, and even a mixing medium for pigments, shadows etc.

If you have ever used a MAC pigment, you know that sometimes using it without a mixing agent can cause immediate fallout and ultimately, the product ending up on your face ISN'T ending up on your eyes, where you want it. In my opinion especially glittery pigments (ex: copper sparkle) that have a lot of chunk definitely need this kind of thing. You simply spray a gentle mist (1 spray) onto your eye brush and tap excess liquid off leaving it kind of damp, then go about tapping it into the pigment etc. This will allow it to stick to your eyes much more easily. Use this the same way for shadows etc. You will also see a better color payoff in most instances!

On a hot summer or even spring day, sometimes you just need a skin refresher. FIX + contains glycerin which pretty much traps moisture it catches in the air onto your face so that its not dry and chalky. My FIX + also has cucumber extract which is used as an "anti-inflammatory" to tighten the skin a little, obviously this is never a bad thing haha Spring water is also a key ingredient and I think this simple thing is what makes me feel so refreshed, its like splashing water on your face after coming in from a day in the sun. All of these ingredients are wonderful for your skin as well!

Last but certainly not least, this is a great way to set your makeup in place. After you have finished your entire makeup regime, spray about two sprays onto your face, at a distance where its misty.  There you go, perfectly sealed in makeup that will last for hours without any visible signs of fading :) I hope by this point you are convinced that you definitely should own this little gem haha Its definitely a worthwhile purchase, its the gift that keeps on giving! :)
