2013 IMATS TAG!

I love doing TAG posts, they're so casual and fun to write up :) In search for a new one, I came across the IMATS TAG and thought, hello what a great idea since I will be attending IMATS NYC next weekend!

I must give credit where credit is due, I found this post originally on Beauty with the Beautifool :)

1. Which IMATS are you attending?

I am attending IMATS NYC in April!

2. Have you ever been to IMATS before?
Yes, this will be my 3rd time :)

3. How are you getting there?

I will be driving into the city, I don't like relying on mass transit if I don't absolutely have to :)

4. Are you bringing anyone along?

Yes! One of my best friends, also my brother's girlfriend is coming :)

5. Is there anything else in the IMATS host city that you want to see?

I live super close to NYC so there aren't many landmark places that I haven't explored throughout the years. On the other hand, there are a ton of eateries that I have yet to try so that may be something fun to do after the show :)

6. What days will you be in the city that IMATS is in? Just the day that I am attending IMATS, Saturday April 6th

7. Who do you want to meet?

I would love to meet any of my readers/blogger friends! It is so much fun to put a real face behind your twitter avatar/google icon haha

8. What companies exhibits are you most excited to see?

Unfortunately, New York IMATS doesn't get even half of the vendors that other cities do :( I hope we are looking to fix and expand sooner than later because it can be so frustrating! Of the select few that are attending, I am looking forward to Give Good Face, Inglot, Eve Pearl, Jessie's Girl Cosmetics, OCC, Royal & Langnickel and Stila---although I will probably stop at every booth for sure :)

9. What products are you looking for?

I am not going with a list persay, I don't really need anything, but some of the things I will probably pick up are

• A new Freedom Palette from Inglot as well as some of their nail colors that I hear are wonderful!
• Some more polishes from the Julie G nail line at Jessie's Girl Cosmetics
• Eve Pearl Concealers and maybe something from Graftobian
• Some new backup makeup brushes maybe?? I always get sucked in! lol

10. How much do you plan to spend?

See the thing with makeup budgets is that the previous years that I've set one, if I don't spend that much I feel like I have to (hello its a makeup wonderland! lol) This year I am not going with a budget but definitely UNDER $200. Hopefully WAY under haha

11. What do you want to get out of IMATS?

I am really going for the overall experience. I like to see what new products companies may be offering and to just be around so many others who share a similar interest in the beauty world. It is so fun to meet people and hey you may learn something at one of the demonstrations that the various booths offer!

50 Random Facts About Me TAG

 This TAG was going around on twitter and I thought it would be an excellent way to get to know me a bit more. You guys only get to read my posts but most if not all of you have no idea who the girl behind the words is---this is an interesting way of gaining insight into who Alysea is outside of the reviews, hauls, recipes and DIY's :) Enjoy!

1. I can eat pasta for breakfast
2. I like cold pizza (almost better than warm!)
3. I am always cold---ALWAYS
4. I talk to my dog as if she were human---isn't she though? :)
5. On the note of dogs, I actually speak in a secret language to her that only we understand--my  boyfriend makes fun of me for it! haha

6. I hate scary movies, I am home alone way too often for that--can we say scarrrdyyy pants? haha
7. I like pickles with salt and vinegar chips---don't judge me until you try it!
8. I dream of moving to London one day--or at least having a nice extended stay there soon.

9. My bedroom color scheme is black, white and purple.
10. I have a deep interest in everything Kennedy-Jackie O' is my idol--I have a mini shrine to her in my bedroom with things I gathered after visiting the JFK Museum in Boston :)

11. I have a section in the notes of my phone dedicated to baby names so I don't forget the ones I like.
12. I really like hello kitty because I just think she's so cute!
13. I only have 3 songs on my ipod---I never listen to any music off my ipod--unbelievable right? 
14. I have had 4 majors in my college career and am finally settled into Psychology.
15. I am going to be a school counselor once I am finished my Masters one day!
16. I adore kids--I wouldn't be a nanny if I didn't <3
17. I have been a nanny for almost 7 years!
18. I love my canon DSLR and yearn to have time to go to PA and take some awesome rustic old barn photos.
19. I have a home in Puerto Rico :)
20. For the next 40 days and hopefully longer, I am only drinking water with lemon for beverage.
21. I love planning events--little details make me happy.
22. I LOVE Special K cereal more than any other, sugary cereals are totally not my thing.
23. I drink 4 green juices a week--I did a post on my recipe not too long ago, look for it ;)
24. I hope to marry my college sweetheart/bestfriend for the past 7 years. Gerard, I love you <3

25. I really like paint by numbers
26. I must make my bed EVERY morning before leaving. An unmade bed really disgusts me.
27. I love outdoor activities--Hiking, camping, kayaking--my favorites!
28. Favorite fragrance is Marc Jacobs Daisy or Lolita Lempika.
29. I have 3 brothers and 1 sister.
30. I have never broken a bone--thank the Lord above!
31. I almost never match when going to bed--I am definitely not one of those perfect matching PJ's gals lol
32. After work my hair goes straight into a "samurai bun" as my boyfriend calls it 99% of the time.
33. I have two beauty marks on my face that are my signature since birth ;)
34. I went to an all girls high school and I absolutely wouldn't change that for a thing.
35. I am working on a trip to Uganda as part of a missionary trip with my boyfriend--I hope to make that happen asap. There then Peru to continue the voyage to help our brothers and sisters of this land.
36. I am Arabic at heart--and through association (My grandpa is Arabic)-I LOVE middle eastern food!!
37. My feet range from size 5.5-6.5 depending on the shoe.
38. I abhor chipped nail polish but I always end up sporting a chipped manicure--my luck lol
39. I created a 120 page cookbook only to have the laptop it was created on crash. I still have it in hopes that it can be recovered one day :(
40. I own a hello kitty refrigerator that I keep in my room at home.
41. White sheets are my new thing--it encourages me to NEVER climb into bed without makeup off and clean fresh body, no matter the hour! No one likes dirty sheets--gross.
42. I haven't been up past 2am in FOREVER! I fall asleep by 12 every night (what a grandma!)
43. I do not drink alcohol (although sometimes I'll grab a drink for a photo prop) for 3 years going strong. No particular reason not to drink--but for me I think...why drink?
44. I have never had any points on my license :)
45. I still have the autograph book I got when I went to Disney World as a child.
46. Drive is one of my favorite movies followed by Apocalypto--as girly as I am right?! haha

47. I refuse to buy an iMAC---I am a total PC gal--I like easy interfaces what can I say I am not willing to learn anything new.....at the moment ;)
48. For a girl who isn't into sports, I LOVE hockey. I went to my first game last year and have been to over 10 since. #NJDEVILS!!

Beauty Blogger Tag!

 
I haven't done a TAG here on my blog in forever, so I thought one was due.  I found this TAG on Charr's blog, and many others as well.  I remember hers the most so I will link her page here .  I thought it was really fun and being a blogger myself, found it interesting to see what other bloggers wrote! Enjoy and be sure to do this TAG if you are intrigued!

1.What are your favorite type of blog-posts to write?

My Favorite posts to write are those that are personal to me, example: my life through pictures etc.  I also love doing Product Reviews because I feel like those are the most educational for everyone!

2.What are your favorite blogs to read?

In all honesty, if you look at the blogs that I follow most are fashion or beauty related, but as far as everyday reading, I real ALL sorts of blogs. Food, personal, photography, baby, computer, etc. 

3.How did u pick your Blog name?

I chose my blog name because I wanted this blog to be a compilation of everything I loved/cherished.  I love the saying "Cherish Every Moment" because every moment is special in its own way.  I guess I got a bit sentimental, but at the same time, in this blog being that I write on various things that mean something to me in a different way, I thought the name was unique and fitting :)

4. Which beauty blogger is your inspiration? 

I love each beauty blogger that I follow, I think they all offer me something in one way or another.  One that I always communicate with via twitter and I think I have a lot in common with would be Melissa from Life Beyond Base.  You can find her link here !

5.Name one tip you learned through another beauty blogger?

Your layout must be inviting, take quality pictures and blog on things that you, the blogger, would actually find interesting to read!

6.What made you make a blog? 

I have read others blogs for the past 5+ years.  I never ever thought I myself would make a blog, but then one day I decided that I wanted to share some of my thoughts.  I have a journal already, but wanted something a little less personal, but something that would let others into the silly/fun/inspirational/ quirky/educational thoughts in my head :)

7.Do you have a favourite blogpost of yours?

One of my most inspirational blog posts and my favorite would have to be my documentation of my visit to the World Trade Center Memorial.  One of my favorite fun posts to do are my Shop and Tells! :)

8.Name one pro and one con of being a beauty blogger?

A pro about being a blogger of all things beauty would be that you become part of a world where you are surrounded by others who share the same loves as you. Another pro would be that somewhere someone out there is reading your blogs and smiling or thinking "ohhh ok, that's how it works" or "hymm yea I guess I shouldn't waste my money on that"! A con, not that there are really any, would be the amount of time one needs to set aside to really make their blog presentable and well written!

9.What advice would would you give someone dealing with hate?

Smile and move on ;)

10. How long does it take you to write a blogpost?

Depends on how much editing and info I am trying to squeeze into my post, one with lots of pics that have to be edited would take me anywhere from 1-1.5 hours. One with more words, anywhere from 30 mins-45 mins.  I type really fast! :)

11. What other blogs apart from beauty do you like to read ?

I love cooking, baby (I have a nephew and am a nanny), travel, fashion etc. Almost anything!

12.Who have you made friends with through blogging?

I communicate with a handful of girls that I "met" through blogging via twitter.  I consider them my friends for sure! All very sweet :)

13. How do you get the ideas for blogposts?

This is going to sound silly but 99% of the time, any blog posts that I write come into my head while I am in the shower, driving or lying in bed at night haha It is when I am not really clouding my head with many tasks that all of the sudden a really good idea for a post comes about.  That and shopping and being out and about!

14. Who do you tag ?

What's In My Bag TAG

Hey guys, so I recently filmed a video with my sister doing the "What's in my Bag TAG" and I am going to link it below in case you all haven't gotten a chance to view it. It was really fun to do because I found some things in my purse that I didn't even know were there! haha My purse is huge so I often find myself losing things in there along the way, I refer to it as the "adult barney bag" haha

Here are the top things that, if I had to clear out my entire purse, I couldn't live without (or easily anyway haha):

1. Mase- as a female, I find, it is always good to be on alert for a predator. This may sound dramatic to some, but as a female who takes night classes, I find that having this on me always makes me feel a little more safe. It's on hand, should I ever be accosted and I feel good knowing that my dainty arms won't be the sole means of defense! haha I was gifted my pink one from a Police Store Owner, but I'm sure you can find some online or in a work shop/sports store?

2. Anti Bac/ Lotion- These are always great to have in a travel size. I work with children a.k.a. the place where Germs have a field day!, and I must whip out my little pocket-bac 4-5 times daily. It's a life saver for the kids and myself alike. The lotion is another thing that is super handy, although I will be having to switch the overly scented one I currently have in my purse out because of the fact that I have realized it induces unnecessary headaches. I wash my hands very often, again working with kids this is a MUST, and I find that dish soaps/bathroom soaps leave my hands dry and rough. Why worry though? I have my handy dandy travel lotion on me :)

3. Chap Stick/ Lip Stick/Lip Gloss--Who likes cracked lips right? Well you won't have to worry about getting those if you have a good (SPF preferably) chap stick in your handbag! Also, carrying one staple lipstick or lip gloss on you is a life saver. Some nights I find myself having dinner plans after work and I am in such a hurry I don't have time to stop home to freshen up my makeup. This is when my staple lipstick comes in handy. Throw on a fresh coat of "lip polish" and you look good as new :) I love this trick!

Hope you all enjoyed seeing what I lug around in my ridiculously ginormous bag everyday, I really do have to work on getting a smaller one, its become as if I am carrying a carry on luggage everywhere with this thing lol

I am working on doing some more videos to accompany my blog posts, I think they are more fun to view/read :) My apologies for not posting in over a month! (feels like longer)..I was on vacation and also just really busy recently. I am getting in the routine of things again though and have lots of fun videos/posts lined up! Let me know if there is anything that you would be interested reading/viewing.
